MEETING INTRODUCTION
It looks like Unigroup's next Solaris Field Trip to Sun Microsystems will be happening in July, based on Sun's schedule. We are currently trying to lock this meeting down (the last date I heard from Sun was in the 3rd week of July).
This leaves June available, and so we are pleased to have an Ubuntu NY LoCo Team member available to present a talk about Ubuntu Linux. Various Unigroupers have said nice things about Ubuntu, and vendors such as Dell have also shown an interest in this Desktop Linux. Interest in this particular Linux Distribution seems to be increasing, across all fronts. Come to our June 2007 meeting to learn the latest about Ubuntu.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: --------------------- While RSVPs will NOT be required for this location, please RSVP if you know you are attending, or if there is a high probability that you will be attending. This will help us determine the correct amount of food and refreshments. Please RSVP by two days prior to the meeting day (the food must be ordered in advance). To REGISTER for this event, please RSVP by using the Unigroup Registration Page. This will allow us to have some automation in the registration process. Please continue to check the Unigroup web site and THIS page, for any last minute updates concerning this meeting. SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Nathan has been a Ubuntu Linux User for two years. During that period he has been privileged to offer his anecdotal experiences for ICT Seminars and Conferences in the metropolitan area (the UN, Farmingdale College to mention a couple of venues). He serves as a community ambassador to the developer base and provides responses within the community forums.
Nathan has aided in the organization and preparation for Ubucon New York 2007.
Nathan is a college student at University of Phoenix, studying Information Technology. He has convinced several classmates (who he has never met face to face) to purchase computers from a vendor which offers Ubuntu Linux pre-installed. He convinced his mother (who is a piano teacher and "not super technologically inclined") to purchase a similar computer, and he convinced his father (who works in a database mine for a large three letter technology corporation) to download and install Ubuntu for part time use in his home lab.
